Children learning and playing at Church of the King Early Learning Center

Welcome to Church of the King Early Learning Center!

Give your child a strong start with a high quality education rooted in a solid biblical foundation.

At Church of the King Early Learning Center, we do more than provide childcare — we nurture hearts and minds with purpose. Through sharing the love of Jesus, teaching biblical truths, and building meaningful lasting relationships, we create a foundation where children grow spiritually, academically, and socially in a caring, Christ-centered environment.

Academic and Spiritual Balance

A warm, joyful classroom moment at our Early Learning Center

Located in Mandeville, Church of the King Early Learning Center is more than a preschool — we are a faith-filled community where children grow academically, spiritually, and socially in a joyful and nurturing environment.

As a ministry of Church of the King, our core values guide us in all we do. These values keep us aligned with God's plan and purpose and the mission He has given us: Reaching People and Building Lives. We intentionally incorporate these values into everything we do at our Early Learning Center.

We believe the Bible and listen to the Holy Spirit. We show God's love to others through our words and actions. We put God first and do life together.

In our classrooms, that means:

  • Teaching biblical truths in age-appropriate ways
  • Modeling kindness, patience, and Christ-like character
  • Encouraging children to build strong friendships
  • Partnering with families to support growth at home and at school
  • Creating a safe, joyful environment where children love to learn

Every lesson, every interaction, and every milestone is an opportunity to help children build a strong educational foundation while also planting seeds of faith that will last a lifetime.

At Church of the King Early Learning Center, we're not just preparing children for kindergarten — we're helping shape future leaders who know they are loved by God and called with purpose.

At Church of the King Early Learning Center, we view each child as a precious seed planted with purpose. Just as a seed grows and develops over time, each stage of our program is designed to nurture your child's growth academically, socially, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

"They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season." — Psalm 1:3

Our Infant Program is thoughtfully designed for babies ages 6 weeks to 12 months and is centered around each child's individual schedule. We understand that every baby is unique, so we partner closely with parents to maintain consistent feeding, sleeping, and care routines that mirror home as much as possible.

Our loving and trained infant teachers provide more than just care — they create a nurturing environment where your baby feels safe, secure, and deeply loved. Through intentional interaction, gentle play, music, tummy time, sensory exploration, and language-rich communication, we encourage age-appropriate developmental milestones.

In our infant classrooms, we focus on:

  • Building secure attachments and trust
  • Supporting early language development through talking, singing, and reading
  • Encouraging gross and fine motor development
  • Promoting sensory discovery and exploration
  • Providing a calm, clean, and comforting environment

We also begin laying a gentle spiritual foundation by playing worship music, praying over our babies, and speaking life and love into their earliest days. Our goal is simple: to care for your baby the way we would want someone to care for our own.

What to Bring

To help ensure your little one's comfort throughout the day, we encourage parents to provide:

  • Enough prepared bottles for the day
  • Breakfast, lunch, and/or small snacks (when developmentally appropriate)
  • At least 6 diapers per day (please replenish daily)
  • Wipes
  • At least 2 complete changes of clothes

If your baby uses any special creams, sleep sacks, or comfort items, please label them clearly and include them in your child's bag. We look forward to partnering with you during this precious first year of growth and development.

Our Transition One Classroom is designed to gently bridge the gap between our Infant Program and our early toddler classrooms. Beginning at 11 months, this classroom provides a supportive and structured environment where children can gradually adjust to new routines, expectations, and increased independence.

We introduce this transition in a thoughtful, step-by-step process to ensure each child feels comfortable, confident, and secure:

  • Week One: Children spend approximately 1.5 hours in the classroom becoming familiar with their new teacher, environment, and daily routine, returning each day to the infant classroom.
  • Week Two: Time increases to about 2.5 hours, allowing children to continue acclimating while also participating in lunchtime with their class.
  • Weeks Three & Four: Children begin napping in the Transition One Classroom while still returning to the infant room afterward, easing them into a full-day experience.

Once your child reaches their first birthday, the Transition One Classroom becomes their primary classroom. Children typically remain here for approximately 3 to 6 months, depending on their developmental readiness. During this time, we focus on helping them build confidence in mobility, independence, and social interaction as they prepare to move into the next classroom environment.

This classroom serves as a nurturing, temporary step where children are encouraged to grow at their own pace — especially as they begin walking, exploring more independently, and engaging more actively with their surroundings. Just like in our Infant Program, we continue to provide attentive, individualized care in a warm and loving environment. Consistency is important during this stage, so many of the same guidelines remain in place.

What to Bring

To ensure your child's comfort and care throughout the day, please provide:

  • Diapers (please replenish daily)
  • Wipes
  • At least 2 complete changes of clothes
  • Breakfast, lunch, and snacks (as appropriate)

Nap mats with attached pillows are required and sent home weekly for cleaning. Please make sure all items are clearly labeled, including bottles, cups, clothing, and personal belongings.

We are honored to walk alongside your child during this important stage of growth and look forward to supporting their transition with care, patience, and intention.

Our Toddler Program is a joyful and engaging environment where curiosity begins to bloom, independence starts to take shape, and little personalities shine. At this stage, children are growing and changing rapidly, so our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to support each child's unique developmental journey.

To best meet their needs, our Toddler Program is divided into younger and older one-year-olds. While the age difference may be only a few months, developmentally it can be significant. This allows our teachers to provide more intentional guidance, meeting children where they are as they grow, learn, and explore at their own pace.

In our Ones classrooms, we focus on:

  • Encouraging early independence and self-help skills
  • Supporting language development through songs, stories, and daily interaction
  • Promoting social skills like sharing, turn-taking, and gentle play
  • Strengthening gross and fine motor development through active play and hands-on activities
  • Creating a structured yet nurturing environment where children feel safe and confident

Our teachers provide a balance of guided learning and play-based exploration, helping children build confidence as they begin interacting more with their peers and the world around them. While children are gaining independence, they still benefit from consistency. Many of our care practices remain similar to those in earlier classrooms, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition.

What to Bring & Classroom Guidelines

To help us maintain a safe, organized, and enjoyable environment for all children, we ask that families partner with us in following these guidelines:

  • Backpack: Please provide a child-sized backpack large enough to hold a lunchbox and communication folder, but small enough for your child to carry independently. Label clearly on the outside.
  • Communication Folder: Check daily for updates, reports, crafts, and important notices.
  • Labeling: All items must be labeled with your child's full name, including diapers/pull-ups, food containers, cups, and personal belongings.
  • Change of Clothes: Send a full change of clothes (including socks) in a labeled bag. Please update seasonally and replace items as needed.
  • Shoes: Children must wear closed-toe, secure shoes daily for safety.

Lunch & Snack Guidelines

  • All food must be cut into small, bite-sized pieces before arriving at school.
  • Please do not send glass containers or microwavable meals. We will warm food briefly if needed.
  • Include labeled utensils and a spill-proof cup.
  • For safety reasons, we cannot serve items such as whole grapes, hot dogs, large apple slices, meat sticks, or popcorn.
  • Pack a healthy, labeled snack separate from lunch. If enrolled in extended care, please include an additional snack.

Nut-Free Policy

Our facility is completely nut-free. Please ensure all items sent are free of nuts or clearly labeled as "nut-free."

Additional Information

  • Nap Mats: Roll-up nap mats with attached pillows are required and sent home weekly for cleaning.
  • Toys from Home: Please keep toys at home to prevent loss or damage.
  • Birthdays: Celebrations are welcome with advance notice. All treats must be store-bought and unopened.
  • Incident Reports: Families will be notified of any injuries, and documentation is required for visible marks at drop-off per state guidelines.

We value strong communication and partnership with our families. This stage of development is full of exciting milestones, and we are honored to support your child as they grow, explore, and gain confidence each day.

Our Twos Program is an exciting and transformative stage where children are developing their voices, building independence, and learning how to navigate the world around them. This age is full of curiosity, growth, and big emotions — and our classrooms are designed to support each child with patience, structure, and encouragement.

To best meet the developmental needs of this age group, our Twos Program is divided into younger twos and older twos. While they may only be about six months apart in age, this stage of development can look very different from one child to the next. Some children are just turning two, while others are approaching their third birthday between October and early spring. This separation allows us to better support each child at their individual level as they grow socially, emotionally, and academically.

In our Twos classrooms, we focus on:

  • Encouraging independence and self-help skills (feeding, cleaning up, early potty-training readiness)
  • Supporting language development as children begin expressing their needs, thoughts, and feelings
  • Guiding social-emotional growth, including sharing, turn-taking, and managing big emotions
  • Promoting active learning through hands-on play, movement, music, and exploration
  • Introducing early classroom structure, routines, and group participation

Our teachers create a nurturing yet structured environment where children feel safe to explore, learn, and grow at their own pace while preparing for the next stage of development.

What to Bring & Classroom Guidelines

To help maintain a safe, organized, and enjoyable environment for all, we ask that families partner with us in following these guidelines:

  • Communication Folder: Check daily for reports, crafts, and important updates.
  • Diapers & Pull-Ups: If your child is transitioning, please provide Velcro side pull-ups only (not underwear-style) to allow for quick and comfortable changes.
  • Labeling: All items must be labeled with your child's full name, including diapers/pull-ups, food containers, cups, and personal belongings.
  • Change of Clothes: Send a full change of clothes (including socks) in a labeled bag. Please update seasonally and replace as needed.

Our Pre-School Three Program is a vibrant and engaging stage where children are becoming more independent, confident, and eager to learn. At this age, children are developing a stronger sense of self, expanding their language skills, and beginning to think more critically about the world around them.

Serving children approximately 36 to 48 months (3 to 4 years old), this classroom supports a wide range of developmental growth. Some children are newly three, while others are approaching their fourth birthday — often transitioning into pre-K in the coming months. Because of this, our teachers thoughtfully meet each child where they are, helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally at their own pace.

In our Threes classrooms, we focus on:

  • Strengthening language and communication skills through conversations, storytelling, and early literacy activities
  • Encouraging independence in daily routines, including toileting, handwashing, and self-care
  • Developing social skills such as cooperation, problem-solving, and understanding emotions
  • Introducing early academic concepts like colors, shapes, letters, numbers, and patterns
  • Promoting creativity through art, music, dramatic play, and hands-on exploration
  • Building attention span and participation in group activities and structured learning

At this stage, children are learning how to follow directions, engage in classroom routines, and interact more meaningfully with peers. Our classrooms provide a balance of structured learning and purposeful play to prepare them for the next level of early education.

This is such an exciting stage of growth as children gain confidence, independence, and a love for learning. We are honored to partner with your family and look forward to a year full of discovery, development, and meaningful milestones.

Our Pre-K Four Program is a meaningful and exciting final step in early childhood education, where children grow into confident learners who are preparing for kindergarten and the next big chapter of their educational journey. At this stage, children are typically 4 to 5 years old (48–60 months), with many beginning the year as four-year-olds and turning five as they move through the school year.

This classroom is a season of tremendous growth — academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Children are developing stronger independence, deeper thinking skills, and a greater ability to engage in structured learning experiences. They are also learning what it means to be part of a classroom community as they prepare for kindergarten readiness.

In our Fours classrooms, we focus on:

  • Building early literacy skills, including letter recognition, phonics awareness, and pre-reading foundations
  • Strengthening early math concepts such as counting, number recognition, patterns, and simple problem-solving
  • Developing writing readiness through fine motor practice and name writing
  • Encouraging independence, responsibility, and self-regulation skills
  • Supporting strong social-emotional development, including teamwork, empathy, and conflict resolution
  • Expanding attention span and ability to participate in structured group learning
  • Encouraging creativity, curiosity, and hands-on exploration across all learning areas

Our teachers intentionally balance structured academic instruction with purposeful play, ensuring children remain engaged, confident, and excited to learn. A highlight of this year is our Pre-K Graduation Ceremony, a special celebration that honors how far each child has come. This meaningful milestone recognizes their growth and celebrates their readiness for kindergarten and beyond.

What Parents Say

"The Early Learning Center (ELC) has been such a blessing to the Lancaster Family. Moving to a new state and finding the right place for our two young children felt like a huge responsibility, but from the moment I toured the ELC I knew it was the perfect fit. We really wanted to find a place that didn't feel like a daycare for our 2 year old and 2 month old. The curriculum is impressive and provides a good balance of learning and development for young children. The teachers are nurturing, caring and communicate exceptionally well with parents, giving us confidence that our children are supported and safe. We are appreciative of the director and her awesome team of teachers/staff. Most importantly, what a blessing we can place our children in a school where they can grow in their faith and be surrounded by people who love Jesus."
